What does "link in bio" mean?

Why people say "link in bio"
On Instagram you cannot add a clickable link to a normal post caption. TikTok captions work the same way. The profile is the one place where a link works, so creators and brands write "link in bio" under a post to send people there. The phrase is now used on every platform, often shortened to "LIB" or "link in b".
What is a link in bio page?
Instagram lets you add up to five links, TikTok one, and X one website. A link in bio page solves the space problem: you put one link in your profile, and that link opens a small mobile page with all your links, such as your latest video, your shop, your booking link and your newsletter.
Tools like Mochii, Linktree, Beacons or Carrd build these pages for you. Most have a free plan.
What to put on your link in bio page
- The one thing you want people to do this week, as the first link
- Your most important platforms, as social icons
- A way to buy, book or contact you
- A newsletter or email signup, if you have one
Three to five links usually beat fifteen. See our link in bio examples for real layouts.
How to make one in five minutes
